What are the good Christmas gifts?
It’s complicated with the gifts. There is no single one that would satisfy all. After all, buying and choosing them is one of the main stresses that accompany Christmas. We asked people to tell us what they would like to find under the Christmas tree. And as we asked 5000 people, you can be sure that this is your ultimate Christmas gift guide. But if you think it will help you, well, not really. There is no clear draw. It's more of a big mix.
Non-specific anything
The worst case is Czechs who just don’t know what they want themselves (11%). They are mostly men over 45 years old with a secondary degree at most. If you have a guy like this at home, Merry Christmas.
On the other side of our gift spectrum are the 11% of Czechs who say that even a small thing makes them happy. They take the gift as a symbol that someone remembered them and was thinking of them. But the problem is that these people don't form any specific group - you find them evenly across the population, so it's up to you to find them. To these people, we can also add those who would be happy with "something from the bottom of the heart" (4%) or something handmade by children (2%).
Interestingly, those who are satisfied with every little thing themselves often start to buy Christmas gifts among the first ones. And what are the examples of good gifts?
Books make for a grateful gift. It is appreciated by 7% of Czechs (2/3 of this group are women). And perhaps not surprisingly, the higher the education, the more often are books the right gifts. Also, the wealthier the household, the more often a book is on the Christmas wish list.
8% of Czech women (and 4% of Czech men too) would like to find a holiday voucher under the tree. But if you think that you can solve it with some kind of trip around the Czech and Moravian lands, you’re wrong. It must be abroad, preferably in some country with a warm climate! This group is more often made up of people over 35 y.o. with a higher education.
Perfumes and jewellery are also mainly female gifts (5% and 4% of women, respectively, want them, compared to 1% and 0.3% of Czech men). Unfortunately, this group is completely average from a socio-demographic point of view, so you have to ask and search. Although sometimes a gold bar is enough for men (no kidding - a rifle and gold, that's the crucial equipment of a real (Czech) man).
3% of Czech women would like to get a voucher for a wellness or spa (more often those from smaller towns and cities). You can also recognize them by the fact that they bake all Christmas cookies at home more often, which is – obviously - a laborious endeavour.
And what are the best male gifts? Over 4% of guys would like to get a car for Christmas. Unfortunately for them, it’s mostly just a dream as it is desired mainly by men from less wealthy families. So, that leaves electronics, tools and DIY accessories and PC-related items on the table. Interestingly, among those who wish for tools and similar gifts, there is an above-average number of men with university degrees. As you can see, it is not so unrealistic to have a guy with a university degree and a proper tool at home. And above all, the health
1% of Czechs want to find world peace under the tree and 4% would like to find health there (especially those over 45).
